How to Preserve all those Garden Veggies
Usually about this time of year gardeners have an over abundance of vegetables from their garden.
You don't want it to go to waste, but you have given away as much as your friends and family would take and now you need something to do with the rest. Well, here are some options for you!
Freezing- Self explanatory (I hope). You can store frozen fruits and veggies for eight months to a year and still retain the flavor and color.
Canning- a method of preserving food in which the food contents are processed and sealed in an airtight container. Canning provides a typical shelf life ranging from one to five years
Dehydrating- a method of food preservation that works by removing water from the food, which inhibits the growth of microorganisms, therefore, extends the shelf life by five to ten years.
Stephanie and I are going to be blogging about some of the best ways to preserve different fruits and vegetables, so be sure to look for those tips in these upcoming posts!
