Quick Fact: Cleaning Silver

I prefer to stay away from chemicals whenever possible so here are some "green" ways to clean your silver! That is...the silver you haven't sold yet.

Aluminum Foil

Place a piece of aluminum foil at the bottom of your kitchen sink, and fill the basin with water. Then, sprinkle in two tablespoons of table salt; and drop your silver pieces into the water. Allow your silver to soak for 2-3 minutes; then, remove and rinse. The tarnish will be gone! The tarnish on the silver is transferred to the foil. In fact, if your silver is tarnished enough, you'll actually see brown tarnish on the aluminum foil.

If you have a small job, the best silver polish is white tooth paste. Dab some on your finger, and rub into the tarnish.

Baking Soda

Make a paste of baking soda and water. Scoop the paste onto a damp sponge, and rub the paste into the silver. Rinse with hot water and polish dry with a soft, clean cloth.
